On http://www.monkeyphysics.com/mootools/script/2/datepicker I see a minDate param.

But it requires a manual date entry, is there a way to set it a more general rule?

IE cannot choose date before today's date.

Also if you have two date fields, how does it know which datefield minDate is assigned to?

I think that minDate will work with Joomla! 1.6 or 1.7. You'd need to use the Custom DatePicker action (or actions) to link to a specific datapicker.
