Hi unwind,

Which version of ChronoForms are you using? You can find the version from Site Admin | Extensions | Install/Uninstall | Components in Joomla! 1.5 or Site Admin | Extensions | Extension Manager | Manage in Joomla! 1.6.

If it is CheonoForms v4 please check this video for the correct settings.

Thanks, the video helped (had a couple of things in the wrong position). However I noticed the Chronoforms page (in Joomla 1.7) loads a bit squished and out of form. Any idea how to fix this?

Hi unwind,

As you saw from the video, there should be two columns there. Maybe a damaged CSS file, or something else on your site intefering. Does it happen in all browsers? I just ran a check with IE9 in IE8 & IE7 mode and it looks OK here.

Hi. Sorry I should have checked. I originally developed my site on local host and used Firefox for the backend. Stupidly I was trying to use the infamous IE 8 to go to the admin side and it obviously has issues as the admin side of my site still looks fine in the Firefox browser. Guess I will use FF for the admin! Thanks again for your help and a great, well priced product that is quite simple to use.

Hi. Sorry, I have another question. How do I make the form keep the data already entered if someone types in the wrong validation key? Currently if you enter the wrong value you lose all the data in the fields. Thanks.

Hi unwind,

In the Show HTML configuration check that 'Republish Form Data' is set to Yes (that is the default).

Thanks Bob, that works, however the email field now shows:
<script type='text/javascript'> <!-- var prefix = 'ma' + 'il' + 'to'; var path = 'hr' + 'ef' + '='; var addy93157 = 'info' + '@'; addy93157 = addy93157 + 'unwind' + '.' + 'co' + '.' + 'za'; document.write('<a ' + path + '\'' + prefix + ':' + addy93157 + '\'>'); document.write(addy93157); document.write('<\/a>'); //-->\n </script><script type='text/javascript'> <!-- document.write('<span style=\'display: none;\'>'); //--> </script>This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. <script type='text/javascript'> <!-- document.write('</'); document.write('span>'); //--> </script>

instead of it being the original email address before submitting.

Hi unwind,

You have the Joomla! Email Cloaking Plug-in enabled and it is trying to cloak the sample e-mail in the ChronoForms validation message. Disable the plug-in temporarily to check this is the problem. If you need the plug-in change the plug-ins order so that Email Cloaking runs before ChronoForms.

NB These are Joomla! plug-ins that you manage from Site Admin | Extensions | Plug-in Manager

Thanks, yet again your advice is spot one. Should one keep the cloaking on or off?
GreyHead 08 Oct, 2011
Hi unwind,

You should keep it on if you use email addresses in the text of your articles. If not then you can turn it off.
