ChronoForms component install fails (Internal Server Error)

muranyia 22 Sep, 2011
Hello,
I'm trying to install Chronoforms_J1.6_V4_RC2.0 on paid GoDaddy hosting and I keep on getting "500 Internal Server Error". Tried manual install as well. Php memory_limit = 128M
Thanks for any clue.

Hi muranyia,

Memory sounds fine. No-one else has reported this particular problem :-(

The GoDaddy help reads

500 — Internal Server Error
This is a very general error that means there's a problem with the website displaying, but the details aren't readily available. Invalid .htaccess files, or invalid rules in them, commonly cause 500 errors with Linux® hosting accounts. With Windows®, it's most commonly invalid requests through a web.config file.
To find out what causes the issue:
Linux — Review your Apache® error logs.
Windows — Enable detailed errors in your web.config file.

What is in your server logs?

Thanks Grey,
Well, the hosting plan is paid but cheap - so there's no error logging.😑

NOTE: Error logs are not available on Hosting – Shared – Economy – Linux plans. To see if you use this kind of plan, click here.

Also, because it triggers an Apache error, I can't get the PHP error on the screen. I wonder if I can get it any other way.

Hi muranyia ,

Hmmm not helpful. Is there any more information in the 500 Error message (if it is the red-bordered Joomla! version there may be).

Uh, I was thinking "this is so stupid, it might be a good idea to just act stupid and try it again" and violá! what did not work a week ago worked flawlessly today. Server psychology.
Thanks Grey for the support
