captcha and cache issues

lansman 31 Aug, 2011
Hi,

from time to time, I noticed if user make mistake in captcha, from the 2nd time and forth it will always say wrong captcha.
I do believe it has to do with the cache, is there any hack or something that can be done to make sure it doesn't get cached or something ?

Hi Lansman,

I don't think its the cache, but can you regenerate the issue ? if so then please try with the latest V4 RC2 and let me know, because the captcha image there is encoded and sent to the browser in the page request, which may help.

However, the new feature has some issues with IE versions older than IE8.

Hi,

Yes, I can regenerate the problem, does the issues in IE7 for example will make it so the user cannot send the message ? what kind of issues ?

Thank you for making the vertical chackbox.
but how to use the same css ?

The new version seems to have made things worse with the captcha.

now when I visit the form page for the first time, with chrome or IE9 for example, I get the same captcha image.
enter wrong, I will get a different one (same on both browsers) and from now on each answer will be wrong and the captcha won't change.

I have tried to delete the cache of the server and of the browsers... and it still don't work.

in version rc1.9 it changed the captcha each refresh, yet still gave a wrong captcha error.

also, the how should I style the checkbox list when it doesn't has any div around it ?
now after upgrading the list is vertical, but it is not inlined with all the form fields, it is inlined under the label.

--- EDIT ---

I have been trying for hours to deal with it and if I disable the cache in admin configuration, the captcha works without a problem. (ver RC2)
soon as I enable the cache, the captcha will change on refresh only one time.

Hi Lansman,

You have the Joomla global cache enabled ? if yes then do you have the form loaded inside an article ? if yes then try to test the form in its own page (through the frontend view link in the forms manager) does it have the same issue ?

Hello

Using direct chronoform links does fix the issue if you have only one form. With more than a form directly pointed in the menu, you start getting issues when sef is enable ... :-/

Can you explain what the cache problem is about and tell if it will get fixed? I never had a problem with v3. I am planning to migrate a website to 1.7 next month. 190 articles with a form in

tks
