Would not save changes on form!

swlabhot 18 Aug, 2011
I'm using Joomla v1.7 with Chrono v4 RC1.9 ( upgraded from RC1.8 )

When I save the changes made at the back-end, it redirects me back to the main back-end page losing all of the changes that I'd made. It has been working fine as I made additions to the form in Joomla 1.7 but now I got to the point where I am no longer able to add any more as it keeps doing this losing any changes that I'd made. Is there a limit as to how large the form gets? Real frustrtating as this has been working for me nicely since Joomla v1.5.

Just to add that I'm able to edit the existing form and save it but not add anymore fields.

Hi swlabhot,

There's no limit on the number of fields that you can add that I know of. I wonder if there is something 'odd' about the field you are trying to add; or it's breaking some server limit.

Try temporarily setting Site Error Reporting to Maximum in the Site Global Configuration and see if you get any error messages then?

I have enabled it to maximum. Where is this log on the server?

Hi swlabhot,

Usually they show on screen but there is also a Joomla! logs folder. The site logs location will depend on your host.

OK this is what I got from the error log:

[Thu Aug 18 16:32:26 2011] [error] [client 109.144.243.224] File does not exist: /home/clvzujsp/public_html/404.shtml, referer: http://stevenwongpt.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_chronoforms&task=form_wizard&form_id=10

Does this make any sense to you?

Hi swlabhot,

No I'm afraid not. The first one isn't a file that is referred to anywhere in ChronoForms as far as I know; the second one appears to be a folder rather than a file :-(

Same thing happening here:

[Tue Aug 30 11:15:32 2011] [error] [client 81.84.4.48] File does not exist: /var/www/vhosts/clinielvas.pt/httpdocs/includes/js, referer: http://clinielvas.pt/administrator/index.php?option=com_chronoforms&task=form_wizard&form_id=1

Happened before on RC1.9 and now also on RC2.0 (J1.7.0)

I can create tables, modify forms and all but the submit button only works from the frontend-view in forms manager returning that error. In the proper site with the plugin it just reloads the page with clear fields and doesn't add to the table or return any error.

Any idea why?

EDIT: swlabhot check your logs for any mod_security errors. My hosting implemented too much safety rules that prevented me to create tables. Maybe the same thing happened with yours. In that case the only option is to ask them to disable the rule that appears on the log.

EDIT2: this only happens while using the plugin. Now I changed it to use the menu directly and the errors are gone. Maybe a plugin bug?
