Working for Joomla 1.7 ?

needshelp 05 Aug, 2011
Does v4 for joomla 1.6, work for joomla 1.7? Really need to get this going on 1.7🙂. I guess I should just try installing it.

HI needshelp,

Yes - at least no major problems reported so far.

Hi!
I also want to install 'chronoforms' to Joomla 1.7, the autom. install goes wrong - I think it is a problem on my server configuration. I must upload by ftp.

Please can you tell me in which directorys the files should be there?

Thanks for your help!

put the zip file in the tmp directory of joomla and try to go to the back end and install from path and put tmp/nameofzipfile i believe that might work.

Hi Maggie,

As needshelp says but I think that you need to unzip the file too. Check the standard Joomsl docs for Manual Installation.

Hi, now I just upload the .zip and the directory: Chronoforms_J1.6_V4_RC1.9 in the tmp directory of Joomla!
And also I create directorys:
components/com_chronoforms
administrator/components/com_chronoforms

...and the error now is:
JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file
JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file
Copy failed
JInstaller: :Install: Failed to copy file /var/www/mywebsite/tmp/Chronoforms_J1.6_V4_RC1.9/chronoforms.php to /var/www/mywebsite/components/com_chronoforms/chronoforms.php

...Bob, I do'nt exactly understand what do you meen: 'Check the standard Joomsl docs for Manual Installation.'

Hi Maggie,

Go to the Joomla! site and check the documents there for Manual Inatallation. Here for example http://docs.joomla.org/Installing_an_extension

Manual Installation

First, unzip all of the files locally. Then transfer the files (using FTP) to a folder in the install directory (for example administrator/components/com_installer/components) for the type of extension you are installing. Then use the installer, but select "install from directory" indicating the correct folder name. This folder name should be an absolute path from the root of the filesystem.

Sorry 😶 it does not work.
/html/mywebname/administrator/components/com_installer/components
there are the 11 files and 6 directorys = unziped 'Chronoforms_J1.6_V4_RC1.9'

From the backend I want to install from "install from directory"
The error: Bitte ein Paketverzeichnis eingeben!

Is this way wrong?

Hi Maggie,

Probably you aren't adding the full path to the folder in the Install Directory box. It must include the root path part as well.

Hi Bob,
okay, but the is an other problem:

JFolder::create: Das Verzeichnis kann nicht erstellt werden!
Component Install: Failed to create site directory: /var/www/servername/html/mydirectioryname/components/com_chronoforms

when I create the folder 'com_chronoforms' manuel, than this error is shown:

JFolder: :files: Path is not a folder. Pfad; /var/www/servername/html/mydirectioryname/administrator/components/com_chronoforms
JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file
JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file
JFolder::create: Das Verzeichnis kann nicht erstellt werden!
Component Update: Failed to create admin directory: /var/www/servername/html/mydirectioryname/administrator/components/com_chronoforms

Hi Maggie,

That maybe the site folder permissions are incorrect or the path is incorrect.

Thanks Bob,
there was a authority problem  and now the component is installed with a little copy failed, but I installed the language-file manual.

• JFolder: :files: Path is not a folder. Pfad; /var/www/myserver/html/mydirectory/administrator/components/com_chronoforms
• JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file
• JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file
• Copy failed
• JInstaller: :Install: Failed to copy file /var/www/myserver/html/mydirectory/administrator/components/com_installer/components/admin/language/en-GB.com_chronoforms.sys.ini to /var/www/myserver/html/mydirectory/administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_chronoforms.sys.ini

The component ist activ, but in the backend component-panel there is no Chronoform - I do'nt can use it. 😲 maggie

Hi Maggie,

It sounds as though the installation isn't complete :-( Not too surprising if you had to manually copy some files.

Uninstall ChronoForms, remove any files from the administrator/components/com_chronoforms/ and components/com_chronoforms/ folders and start again.

If you now have the correct settings then the normal installer should work OK.

Just to be clear - this is a problem with the site set up - not with ChronoForms.
