Chrono Form - Can't Send Email - Can we use SMTP ?

talofo 25 Jul, 2011
Hello,

1)
The path to send mail is properly configured on Joomla.

2)
I've checked the phpinfo();

3)
I've tried to use the "sendmail" option as well as php mailer option on the joomla configuration drop box.

4)
I've enabled the debug mode, and all seems ok, and it tells me that the form data was sent do that email.

5)
I've checked the spam folder

6)
Just to make sure the issue wasn't related with the form, I told Joomla to send me an email, each time a private message was sent. And I got no email at all.

I then presume that this must be an hosting/Joomla issue related with the php mail method that, for some reason, doesn't work.

My question is:
Can I instead use a SMTP configuration with Chrono form ?

Thanks a lot,

Hi talofo,

This sounds very much like a problem with the configuration of the host mail server.

You can set up your site to use SMTP - if you use a Gmail account the Gmail SMTP server usually works well. Just enter the server name and the account login info into the settings in the Site Global Configuration.

That didn't work on my case either.😟 But it sure is something to do with the host company. So I rest my case on this one.

Thanks a lot for your feedback it gave me courage to talk with the host company.🙂
