Cannot get plug-in to work with Joomla 1.7.0

rowby 23 Jul, 2011
Hello all,

Using Plugin V4 RC1.8 (Chronoforms_J1.6_V4_RC1.8_Plugin.zip)
Chronoforms 4.0 RC1.9

Unfortunately this forum will not let me search for 1.7 (search result says must contain 3 letters, etc.)

I am unable to get the plug-in to work with Joomla 1.7.0 The form is published and my html code is clean.

All that shows in the article is the plugin code:

{chronocontact}contactus2011{/chronocontact}

The plug-in is published.
The form is published.
Is anyone else able to successfully publish articles incorporating the plug-in code?

Thanks

Hi rowby,

Try the ChronoSearch from the Tutorials menu above. That will search on 1.7

Apart from a PHP Notice (fix linked from the v4 bugs list) the plug-in appears to be working OK on my Joomla! 1.7 test site OK both on the Home page and an article page.

Thanks, Bob.

I'll dig in some more. I also noticed with the plug-in enabled my site's menu links are disabled. So perhaps my menu system is having a conflict.

I'll keep checking it out and report back when I get it all working.

Well for whatever reason I still can't get the plugin to work with my installation of Joomla 1.7.0. Perhaps there is a conflict with another extension.

In case others are experiencing this issue, I remembered a simple workaround. It's Joomla's Load Position feature.

I created the form. I copied the form name to the Chronoform MODULE, in the appropriate field. Then I gave the Chronoform module a non-existent position. For example: contactus2011

THen I went to the article and instead of pasting in the plug-in code, I pasted in the Joomla loadpostion code, including my non-existent position:

{loadposition contactus2011}

And then when I went to view the page the Chronoform form was published.

Again, this issue may be a conflict in my own 1.7.0 installation, but at least this workaround allows me to continue using my favorite Joomla form system.

Hi rowby,

Nice workaround - thank you.

Please also see this post which may fix the plug-in problem. It's installed on my test site so may make the difference.
