Blank page and trouble connecting tables

stmoist 05 Jul, 2011
I have installed the latest RC of version 4 (1.9) alongside version 3 (3.1 RC2). I would like to re-do all the forms on the site with the new version, while leaving the old forms up. When I did the first form, I get a blank page when I click on the "frontend view" option. I also cannot seem to connect a table to the form.

I searched around the forum, found that setting "maximum" error reporting enabled gave me an error message relating to an unrelated plugin on my site. This error appears on all pages of the site, including the pages of the old chronoforms that work, so I am assuming that it is not the error causing the blank page.

If I know that uninstalling both components and starting over from scratch and recreating the forms on version 4 will work, I will probably just commit to doing that and getting it over with. I am just nervous now that the version 4 form is not working at all.

I would appreciate any guidance on the matter!

Hi stmoist,

The problem you have is that CFv4 requires the MooTools Upgrade plug-in enabled and CFv3 requires it disabled - the two are built to work with different versions of the MooTools library.

There are possible workarounds but the easiest way is to create a development site with a bare-boned Joomla! installation, put CFv4 on that and rebuild the forms there.

Thanks Bob! I always appreciate the prompt response.

On the off-line version of our site, I uninstalled all chrono-contact (old) and chrono-forms (new) components, modules, and plugins, enabled the moo-tools upgrade, and reinstalled the new version. I'm still having problems with the form. Any suggestions?

EDIT:

I tried a form out before I had validated the install, and the "powered by chronoforms" (or whatever the text reads) showed up when I clicked on "frontend view", but nothing else shows up.

FURTHER EDIT:

I created the form using the Advanced Wizard, if that helps.

Hi stmoist ,

You probably need to drag a Show HTML action into the OnLoad event. This is required to show the HTML.

Thanks Bob, that did the trick. Also, thanks for reminding me to read the documentation for version 4, which probably would have helped me immensely. I may have to buy you a cup of coffee.😉
