Actions tab problem Chronoforms V4 Joomla1.6.3

Zoonder 25 May, 2011
When I click the Actions tab in the form wizard the layers on the page are affected making it impossible to use the actions tab. Possibly some CSS or Javascript causing the problem?

I don't know how to prevent this from happening.

It also happens when editing the elements on a form (eg. when the edit window is displayed).

The browser I am using is IE8, and I have a different set of issues when using FF3.

I am using a completely new installation of Joomla 1.6.3 and this is the first component I have installed for testing.

Any suggestions or advice appreciated.

Hi zoonder,

Sounds like a JavaScript problem to me.

Do you have the Joomla! 1.6 version of ChronoForms v4? (There's a Joomla! 1.5 version as well.)

Can you check which version of MooTools is loading? It should be 1.3 I think.

I have this combination running OK here :-(

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the quick reply.

I am using the correct version of ChronoForms V4 for Joomla 1.6.3 and have MooTools 1.3.

I have noticed that if I disable compatibility mode in IE8 then click the forms tab I get a message from the browser advising that "a problem displaying ... caused Internet Explorer to refresh the page using Compatability View".

Once in compatibility view the layering problems start. Also happens with IE9.

I have tried this on a number of different laptops and PC's and get the same layers problem.

Hi zoonder,

I just ran a check and the admin is fine in IE8 and IE8 but not in IE7*.

My best guess is that a setting on your site if forcing the page back into IE7 Compatibility mode. Is there a tag like this in the page header?
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7">

* I don't know why this is - there's no JavaScript error showing up. ChronoForms v4 appears to work on Joomla! 1.5 in IE7 mode so this maybe some difference between MooTools v1.2 & v1.3 :-(

Hi Bob,
Thanks for your suggestion. There's no tag forcing Compatability View.

I have several installs of Joomla 1.6.3 (full package - not from upgrade).
It's happening in each of these installations with IE8/IE9. There is just the default Joomla config and Chronoforms. I've tried changing the admin template in the hope that it might help - it didn't.

It is working with FF3 - I initially had a problem saving, but this was my error! So FF3 can be ruled out.

So this would indicate that its the browser or mootools causing the issue.

If I find a solution I'll post back.

Thanks
