i am trying to install Chronoforms_J1.6_V4_RC1.8 in joomla 1.6.2 through the extension manager.
however i get these error messages:
Warning: opendir(/www/htdocs/---) [function.opendir]: failed to open dir: Permission denied in /www/htdocs/---/libraries/joomla/filesystem/folder.php on line 548
Warning: readdir() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in /www/htdocs/---/libraries/joomla/filesystem/folder.php on line 549
how can i avoid these?

Hi Hans,
Check that your site user has sufficient permissions to read and write to site and create new folders. You may need to check with your ISP to see if they set any limitations.

i had an idea this was going to be issue.
this is the first time i install j16.
in j15 there was a list with what folders should be writable.
i can't find it in j16.
is there a list for this chronoforms of what folder needs which permissions?

For hours i have been deleting files by ftp and chmoding and in th end it gives an error and goes back to the admin panel. frustrating.
Is there a way to manually install this component?

I've had no problems installing ChronoForms v4 on Joomla! 1.6; the installer is pretty standard and not nearly as big as the previous version.
I'm sure that you can also use the 'Install from Directory' box on the Joomla! Extension Manager page.

it still comes up with the same errors.
even now every folder has chmod 777 rights.
never ever ever had a problem instaling chronoforms.
am using it for years.
do you want to try it yourself?

Does the php version has any influence?
I have several domains and all with different php versions.
chronoforms works with that hoster only on php 5.2.13
other versions are much higher.
