Chronoform not sending email

Haggisdog 13 Apr, 2011
I have two forms that I created using the ChronoForms on our website running Joomla 1.5.2. These are very simple forms that allow a person to login and either request a service or join our group. They were working fine for a few months but lately they have stopped sending the email notification. I haven't changed anything and I can see that when I complete a form it gets saved in the database. I've also started to receive this message after I've entered the form data and clicked on submit "You are not allowed to access this URL", this doesn't happen all the time but its the first time I've seen this.

Does anyone have ideas on how to troubleshoot this? It's very frustrating since it had been working perfectly before and now I don't know how to fix it.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Haggisdog,

The 'usual' reason for emails to stop working is that your ISP has tightened up their spam filters. Please check that the From Email Address is static (not a dynamic one using a form result) and that the domain part of the address matches the site domain.

The error message is more elusive, particularly if it is erratic :-( If the form is long the session may be timing out - default is 15 minutes. Otherwise you can try turning the Security Token off in the form general tab.

Thanks Bob, its a very straightforward form (so I doubt it's timing out) and I am using a static/valid email address. The form, if you're curious, is located here: http://www.houstonhighlanders.com/index.php?option=com_chronocontact&Itemid=24

I took your advice and disabled the security token and this seems to have corrected the problem. I'm not sure why it would crop up out of the blue though. My ISP is GoDaddy if that helps.

I've also turned on the Saving Data/Emails order: Before email, although I'm finding the table view using the Table Manager a little difficult to see what actually submitted. Is there a way to see the data of what has been submitted so I can determine if it triggered an email?

Hi Haggisdog,

In ChronoForms v3.2 you can click the link in the Tables Connected column of the Forms Manager to see a simple data viewer.
