Can I hook up the Form Wizard from 1.5 to 1.6?

While waiting for a V4 Joomla 1.6 installer I took a forum member's suggestion and installed Joomla 1.5 on my localhost and have been playing with Chronoforms_V4_RC1.6, basically to get a feel for it.

I certainly like it, but I have a question concerning the Form Wizard. The Form Wizard interface does make it very easy to modify forms and I expect a great deal of work on this front.

I can create forms in this J1.5 environment and (presumably) will be able to paste the html into equivalent forms on the J1.6 site, fine. I know I'll have to recreate the database tables on the J1.6 site but will there be any way of hooking these copied forms (copy and paste html) back into the Form Wizard on the J1.6 site?

What if import the jos_chronoforms table from the J1.5 installation to the J1.6 database? I assume I'd have to fiddle with the record IDs to match things up - is it even worth going there?

Hi Nick,

You can probably do it with the database tables - they will be pretty much identical (barring any changes Max makes before the 1.6 release.)

If the 1.6 tables are empty then you can just copy the 1.5 tables over - that should keep the index keys in sync.

PS PM me if you want to try a strictly unofficial 1.6 version.

Thanks very much Bob,

I'll pass on your unofficial version for the next few days and prepare my stuff on J1.5.

What you have said leads me to believe I can carry on with some confidence.

If Max doesn't come through, I'll be back.

Merci bien,
Nick

Hi Nick,

No changes are expected in the J1.6 version over the J1.5 one, so you may just do all the work on the J1.5 then copy the tables later, just as Bob said🙂

Max
