Custom form needed - can CF help?

momentis 11 Feb, 2011
I work for a marketing company, looking to develop a B2B site for our clients, and I have been given the (unenviable) task of developing the site. I am just going to throw out what I need, and see if anyone out there can tell me if ChronoForms can help me. I am NOT looking for the solution, simply to know if CF has some feature that can assist.

I will have product suppliers uploading their product images/marketing material to our site. This material can be browsed by my customers, and they can select content from the suppliers they have access to and have it printed on different mailers. I need to have an order form designed that will allow my customers to select product images from the suppliers, add images of their own (logos, etc) if they wish, upload mailing lists (if applicable) and submit that all to us for quoting purposes.

Now, I have not decided what extensions to use to manage the supplier data, and I am open to that. If there is anything that may interface nicely with CF (or ChronoConnectivity, or both), then that's what I would start with.

I know I am probably being FAR too vague, but I am doing the best that I can, and I am just at the beginning of the process. Thanks!!!!

Hi Rick,

Well you can do this with ChronoForms and ChronoConnectivity working together.

Basically ChronoForms collects or displays one record at at time and ChronoConnectivity shows a list of records. An application like the one you outline would probably end up with one or two CC Listings and between 4 and 12 ChronoForms.

This isn't trivial but it's not an impossibly hard task either - will take some time and some learning.

The question for you really is whether the form-based application route is the *best* way to do it. There may, for example, be shop based extensions out there that could be converted more easily.

Bob,

Thanks for the reply, and you make an excellent point. I already started looking into shopping carts and, as usual, none meet every need I have 😫

I use CF and CC a lot, and I love the flexibility it gives, but I am going to take your advice and at least try a shop extension first.

Thanks for the quick response!
Rick
