I don't know, if this is Beta then I'm not so excited. From looking at it, I would have thought it was a rough-sketch alpha. Im not the sharpest tool but it took me like 5 minutes to figure out how to edit the elements using the link / modal window. I thought there was a bug with a missing toolbar.
In terms of creating the form elements, it doesn't seem any easier. Drag and drop like before. And honestly, the rest of it - all of the actions and events, seems a heck of a lot more confusing for people who don't already know how to build a form.
It looks like Chronoforms is becoming a more convenient tool for people who already know what they are doing ( so a time saver for people who understand how forms work and could probably write the code from scratch ) and almost useless for people who aren't coders / designers. Maybe this is your core user group... but I think Joomla is only going to get more and more popular with people who aren't coders and designers.
The current stable version of chronoforms is unbelievably awesome. I started into web design about 5 years ago knowing next to nothing. Chronoforms was like, not only top 3 apps I use and still use, but also one of the best for teaching me how forms work. It enabled me to create really complex forms knowing next to nothing.
Again, PREFACE all of this with realizing that this is a BETA version, but also recognizing that most BETA versions have the core functionality in place... if I were to have seen this version of Chronoforms for the first time, I'd be completely lost. It's kind of structureless, I wouldn't have a clue where to go or what to do!
I do appreciate all the hard work and I will keep using Chronoforms... just not sure which version. And the mtupgrade hack to keep it out of the backend is okay, although you can disable the plugin to design your form and then turn it back on afterwards. It doesn't affect the frontend form functions.
