How to uninstall ChronoComments?

otexio 20 Jan, 2011
I've just installed Chrono Comments and Contacts, but I want now to uninstall both components, since it's not what I want for my site. I got the Contact component uninstalled, but I found a trouble uninstalling the Comments component. I receive the following errors when loading my site after completing the uninstallation process (from the Joomla menu, where manager indicates it's been removed successfully).

Warning: require_once(/home/.../components/com_chronocomments/templates/comment-form.html.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/.../plugins/content/ChronoComments.php on line 100

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/.../components/com_chronocomments/templates/comment-form.html.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/.../plugins/content/ChronoComments.php on line 100

Please, any solution!

Hi otexio ,

You also need to unistall the ChronoCommets plug-in (and modules if any are installed).

There have no plug-ins been installed. I only installed the two components.

Hi otexio,

I don't know anything much about ChronoComments but the error messages are coming from a plug-in file:

No such file or directory in /home/.../plugins/content/ChronoComments.php

Isn't there any way to uninstall manually? I tried removin all the files from the 'components' directory in Joomla, but no effect. It shows the same error messages.

Hi otexio,

The files are in the plug-ins folder (not the components folder) - see the path below. You may be able to unistall the plug-in directly from Admin | Extensions | Install/Uninstall | Plug-ins.

To uninstall manually you need to remove both the files and the entry in the plug-ins table.

I finally could uninstall it manually, deleting all the files containing the word 'chrono'. The only option in plugins section (in the joomla admin panel) was 'Disable', so I suggest developers of this component to take in account this bug report. Thanks.

Hi otexio,

The 'Disable' option is in the Plug-in Manager. Uninstall should be at the location I posted earlier.
