too many emails sent for ONE submission

nik_c 17 Jan, 2011
Hi,

I am getting a very strange behaviour in my form/site. When I test a form for the first time it works fine. When I change something on the back end, then save it, then submit (ie test) the form on the front end a second time, I get 2 emails sent out, when I do a further edit in the back end, then test it again, I get three emails sent out, and so forth.

I am still testing this behaviour further, but has anyone of you had a similar problem,

Thanks,
Nik

Hi Nik,

I've never seen that reported here before. It sounds as though some code is getting duplicate when you save.

Please take a Form Backup using the icon in the Forms Manager and post it here (as a zipped file) or PM or email it to me and I'll take a closer look.

Hi,

Here is the zipped backup of a simple form just asking you for an email address, before submitting. It displays the previously mentioned behaviour.

I have installed on the site:
- Nooku
- DOCman
- BluFlames forms (as they serve the site until I get the Chronoforms ready)

and Joomla is at v1.5.22,

Thanks for your help!

Hi Nik,

I think that the problem is that you are using a Dynamic Reply To Email box with an email address in it instead of an input name. This is kicking up some errors in the mailer.

Replace this with an ordinary Reply To Email and see if that fixes the problem.

Bob

PS I only get one copy each time.

Hi Bob,

That does not seem to be the reason for the malfunction.

When I load the 'basicDemo' form and submit it, the same happens. I will try un-install and re-install chronoforms. - Maybe that helps.

I am hosting on ROCHEN, so I cannot image that any database or hosting issues cause this...

Thx,
Nik

Hi Nik,

OK - no other useful suggestions from me at the moment. If I think of anything I'll post it.

HI Bob,

That is OK, thanks for your efforts so far!

Can I just confirm with you that Crhosoforms is creating 4 tables in the jos_ database called

- chrono_contact
- chrono_contact_emails
- chrono_contact_elements
- chrono_contact_plugins

As I got Nooku (the multilingual ext) installed this has created multiple entries in all languages of these tbales - maybe that is a hint. Will check with them (Nooku) as well.

Hi Nik,

Yes, those are the standard ChronoForms tables. A bit odd that Nooku duplicates them though.

Hi Bob,

From what I gleened about the way Nooku works it duplicates all tables it translates and calles them something like 'jos_de_de_chrono_contact' for the German one, then puts the translated content into that.
