Two radio buttons but only one submits

joeri26 06 Jan, 2011
Hi Bob,

I have a form with two radio buttons, one is a required field and the other isn't. The input for the required field doens't show and the not required field does show. I really need to see both since the information that has been submitted is vital for organising a high school open day.

Is it possible to pm you superadmin details so you can take a look for yourself?

Thanks!

Hi joeri26,

By all means email or PM me the site URL and a SuperAdmin login and I'll take a quick look.

Hi joeri26,

I think that's fixed. There was no entry for the second checkbox in the Email template. I guess that you added it later. If you do that you either have to edit the Email Template by hand; or delete everything form it (including any hidden HTML) to force ChronoForms to regenerate it.

Hi Bob,

Thank you for the quick response!

For some reason, the second checkbox ("verwacht advies") does show up in the message after submitting the form but it doesn't show up in the database. I'm fairly confident that I'm the one that's doing something wrong. But if you could look at it again...?

Thanks!

-edit- I think my question was a bit confusing, I said radiobutton but what I really meant was the second fiels with the two radio buttons. My apologies!!

Hi joeri26,

Strictly speaking they are checkboxes - radio buttons are the round ones.

You need to refresh the DB Connection after making any changes to database column names. In the Form Editor click the DB Connection tab and set the Connection to 'No'. Click the 'Apply icon in the toolbar to save the form, open the DB Connection tab, set the Connection back to 'Yes' and re-save the form. This will refresh the copy of the table information that ChronoForms uses.

Hi Bob,

Unfortunately I can't get it to work properly. I'll try to think of another way to get the data. Thanks for helping out though!

Hi joeri,

It should work OK - I'll take a look in a few minutes.

Hi Bob,

I appreciate the time and effort you put into helping me. Thanks!

Hi joeri26,

Fixed, there was no check1 column in the database table. It shows up as a column in the data viewer list but not when you look at an individual record.

I added the column then refreshed the DB Connection. You can see a test entry saved at record 174.

Bob, you are awesome! But! Is there a way to retrieve previous entries?

Hi joeri,

No, I'm sorry there isn't any way of getting unsaved records :-(

Too bad. Well, at least that won't happen again. I'll be sure to check and doublecheck next time. Thank you for your time and effort!! I'll buy you a coffee ;-)
