Trying to upgrade to v3.2 from 3.1 rc5.5
Backed up form html and server side validation for the two forms I have on my website.
Downloaded the Chrono_Forms v3.2 zip file
Went to extensions > install page > upload package file > selected package file from desktop
And got that error.
Also tried install from directory ( /tmp ) and got "you need to select a package file"

Hi cally6008,
We've sometimes seen this when the Joomla! FTP is enabled. Please disable FTP in the site Global Configuration while you re-try the installation.
Please uninstall ChronoForms if Joomla! will let you. Then make sure that the administrator/components/com_chronocontact and components/com_chronocontact folders are empty and deleted, then try the install again. If it still fails there may be a permissions problem.
To do a manual installation I think that you have to unpack the installer file into the temporary folder.

Joomla FTP is disabled on my website anyway.
I have uninstalled ChronoContact 3.1 rc5.5 on joomla but the files are still there upon checking the website using ftp. It is a permissions problem in the actual file(s). They have being set so that once uploaded, you can not alter or delete them via ftp (owner permissions?). I will have to contact my webhosts to change the permissions of those directories to normal/me so that I can delete them.
The zip file gets uploaded to the /tmp file. Then it gets unzipped in there, quite fine. It is unable to move or be deleted from there due to these owner permissions. I have tried installing from there and it wont work either.
It's not a problem with my website as I just updated joomla and kunena quite fine last night.

Hi cally6008,
Sorry about the problems you are having. As far as I know there is nothing special about the file permissions in the ChronoForms installation package. Though we do occasionally see problems with memory timeouts because the package is large.
I'm not sure what else I can usefully suggest :-(

Hey no worries 🙂 I'll have a play and see what I can come up with. The file size shouldn't be a problem at 1.13mb zipped. Kunena is 2.14mb and that was fine. I tried re-installing 3.1rc5.5 but that didnt work either so I'm wondering if Joomla has changed something ?
Back later.

On reading joomla forums, it does seem to be a popular problem but there doesnt appear to be a clear cut and simple english answer
