drag and drop in forms not working

wdemilly 23 Nov, 2010
Hi, I'm using Joomla 1.5.20 and the latest versions of chronoforms.

I've built several sites using Chronoforms and have never run into this new issue: I can't use the form wizard to build new forms. When I drag an element into the blank form, the only thing that happens is that the name of the element shows up, but nothing is editable. The icons in the demo form don't work either. (I can't move an element, or edit it).

I've wondered if the problem has to do with a new component I'm using: Joomla SEF. Could this be the issue? If so how do I solve the prob without losing the SEF capabilities for the rest of the site?

PS I've tried with IE as well as Firefox.

Thanks

Hi wdemilly,

You probably have the MooTools Upgrade Plugin enabled. This is an optional plug-in that enables the MooTools 1.2 library on your site.

ChronoForms (and many other Joomla! extensions) use the MooTools 1.1.2 library that is installed by default. The ChronoForms Wizard, and other back-end code will not run with the plugin enabled.

If you disable the plug-in then ChronoForms should run correctly.

If you need MooTools 1.2 in the front-end of your site then there is a hack for the plug-in posted in the forums here that will enable the 1.2 library in the front-end only. However the ChronoForms validation code and some other features will not work with this version.

There's a fuller "How-to Document" here that includes fixed files that will let the front-end of ChronoForms work with MooTools 1.2.

You were right! I disabled "Mootools Upgrade" and now see that it works correctly.

Thanks so much.

Hi There,

I have a similar problem. I can't add fields to a form with the Wizard. AND
form validation ist not working at all. Not even a custom validation script I added.

- Mootools-Upgrade is OFF
- No other JS is loaded in the frontend, just the Chronoform JS files

Please PM me for the Link.

As JS is a client side thing, I doubt that it could be server issue.

Hi merzmedia ,

And which version of ChronoForms?

CFv3.2 requires the MooTools upgrade plug-in off; CFv4 requires it to be on.

Ah Sorry,

CF 3.2 with Joomla 1.5.22

I didn't have the time yet to examine CF 4.

Hi merzmedia,

Sounds like a JavaScript conflict? Please post a link to the form so we can take a quick look.

I'm having the same problem. I'm using Joomla 1.5.15 and CFv4 and I tried my form with the MooTools upgrade on and off and the drag and drop doesn't work either way. Any ideas? Could I send you log in information?

Hi ajc100,

ChronoForms v4 requires the Joomla! MooTools Upgrade plug-in enabled. The plug-in was introduced from Joomla! 1.5.19 so you'll need to upgrade your Joomla! installation preferably to 1.5.23 to use ChronoForms v4.

Hi,

Today I downloaded and installed Chronoforms V4, downloaded and installed Mootools upgrade plugin and upgraded from joomla 1.5.22 to 1.5.23.
I have activated the Mootools upgrade plug-in.
However, I am still not able to drag and drop the form items.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi J@n,

Please try logging out and back into the Admin area and/or celaring your browser cache.

If that doesn't work please post a link to your site.

Thanks for your advice! I just switched to Chronoforms V3 instead and it works fine. Thank you!!

Hi!

As you recommended, I logged out and in to the back end of my site.
I also emptied the browser cache.
It didn't help.

The URL of my site is http://www.afv-objectief.nl

Hi Jan,

The site is loading MooTools v 1.12 so the Upgrade plug-in isn't working for you.

I recently upgraded from using Joomla 1.5.20 and CF 3.1 to Joomla 1.5.23 (as recommended for using CF4) and CF4. Mootools is version 1.2.5 (according to the plugin description) and is enabled.

While trying to work in the new form screen, as well as both the regular and easy wizard, I am not able to click/drag anything or switch tabs. All it does is highlight the text on the screen.

Tried in Firefox, IE9 and Chrome (cleared cache and still no go).

I still have CF3 installed, and that still lets me click/drag objects into the wizard and each tab.

Hi km_,

I can confirm that MooTools 1.2.5 is running on the front-end of your site but if CFv3 is working and CFv4 isn't then you are still running MooTools 1.12 on the back-end. It may be that you need to log out and log in again, or clear your browser cache to get the correct library to load.

I just tried from a computer that has never logged into the admin portion of the site and can confirm its doing the same thing from the other computer, cannot navigate the tabs or drag&drop.
GreyHead 20 Sep, 2011
Hi km_,

Please check what version of MooTools is being loaded in the back end.

Bob

Where exactly do I go to verify the version?
GreyHead 20 Sep, 2011
Hi km_,

Use your preferred Web Developer tools: FireBug in Firefox; F12 in IE8 or IE9, Shift+Ctrl+i in Chrome then check the Scripts tab.

Ok, it reads 1.12. Even from computers that never accessed the web site.

How would I update it?
GreyHead 20 Sep, 2011
Hi km_,

It looks as though something in the site admin is blocking the MooTools Upgrade plug-in in the Admin :-(

I can only suggest that you take a look around - especially in the plug-ins and see if you can see anything that looks as if it might be affecting it.

Bob

PS There is a hacked version of the Upgrade plug-in here that set MooTools differently in the front and back end. If you used that then you should over-write it with the 'official' version now.

Copying over the mootools.js and mootools-uncompressed.js from the /plugins/system/mtupgrade folder to the /media/system/js folder, and CF v4 lets me navigate and drag&drop now.

Thanks for the info/hints.

Hi el patron,

I suggest that you upgrade Joomla! to 1.5.23 and use the MooTools Upgrade plug-in to enable MooTools 1.2.5 if you need it.
