File Upload Field

FAMMA 16 Nov, 2010
I did a form with a file upload file, but the form doesn't work when that field is empty (it isn't a required field). When I put a file in the field the form works perfectly. ¿What is the reason? Thanks.

Hi Famma,

Sorry, I've no idea. The file upload should work OK if it is left empty.

Please take a Form Backup using the icon in the Forms Manager and post it here (as a zipped file) or PM or email it to me and I'll take a closer look.

Thank you GreyHead, I send you the backup. I can say you the form doesn't work in a local server with Apache (XAMPP) nor in a real server with Windows

Hi FAMMA,

It appears to work OK on my test server when the file field is empty. The form submits with no errors and the email is sent OK.

What do you see that tells you that it hasn't worked?

When I send the form with the file upload field empty, it doesn't submit but it shows a empty error message. I send you a screen.
I suspect now it's a problem of configuration of the component. I'll investigate...

Hi FAMMA,

Not sure, you certainly get a different result than I do on my server :-(

Please try turning DeBug on to see if you get any useful clues from the debug info.

You probably also need to turn Input Formatting 'Off' in the template settings so that the checkboxes work correctly.

Thank you GreyHead.
I send you a rtf with the debug text, I don't understand it 🙂 .
Where is Input Formatting? I don't see it...

Hi FAMMA,

Sorry, I wasn't clear - I meant the ChronoForms debug.

Sorry, I don't know how to activate ChronoForms Debug.

Hi FAMMA,

It's a setting on the Form Editor General tab.

Please also see this post.

Thank you Bob and congratulations, my form works now perfectly with the new version of chronoformuploads.php. I'm happy because you found the bug.

I got other problem now:

Where are those "template settings"? I don't find them, nor Input Formatting...
Internet Explorer don't work with checkboxes.

Hi FAMMA,

They are under Site Admin | Extensions | Template Manager - under the Solar Sentinel | Advanced Section I expect.

Thank you very much Bob.

I have the exact same problem. I have tried setting Debug and and it doesn't display anything but the same error as before. I am unable to find the the other switch under my template. I have attached a zipped copy of my form.

Hi lstecker,

Can you please start a new topic and explain your problem ?
