Plugin include component and CC

Chris Blair 31 Oct, 2010
Dear All,
As I seem tobe heading down a road similar to Grumpster I latched onto his (assuming here that Grumpster is indeed male) post in the forum re: the above, and have focused initially on getting the include component working with CC. Unfortunately there is a problem.

Installing the component is a no brainer - install, switch on and go. I then created a new article and into that inserted the following code to include my CC form in that article:

{component url='index.php?option=com_chronoconnectivity&connectionname=pod_retrieval'}

To my mind this is working as it should however, when I navigate to that 'article' I get the following error message:

You don't have suffecient view permissions to view this page
Powered By ChronoConnectivity - ChronoEngine.com

The user account I am using is 'registered', the article is 'registered' and I have double checked all permissions even to the point of removing them completely. I have also explicitly indicated to CC on the Frontend Settings that this user is GOD when it comes to the display and usage of the form. If I remove the component url from the article I can access the CC form as before and all is well with the world.

Dear All,
I have just read a post re group permissions and tried the following trial and error approach:

ALL groups have access - this worked a charm and I got the result I wanted.
ALL groups BAR Public USers and Guests - failed.
Public Users and Guests - worked a charm.

At least now I know the whole implementation is working albeit with a lack of restriction. I do need the article and the CC form to be more secure hence the access restrictions. This however is proving rather difficult to acheive.

Hi Chris,

I've never tried embedding a ChronoConnectivity listing in an article so I don't know what problems arise. I'm a bit surprised that you'd have access problems though as most of that is run in PHP and shouldn't be dependent on the presentation of the listing.

Can you tell me a bit more about what you want here. If I understand correctly:
• If you have access set to include Public Users and Groups then you see the listing OK
  • You want to hide the listing from un-logged in users
  • When you exclude Public Users and Groups then the listing isn't visible?
  •
Silly question but are you logging in at the front-end? It's a separate login from the Admin. If you aren't logged in then that would explain this pattern of results?

    Bob,
All is well with the world again. I can only assume that there was some kind of issue with my cache as flushing it resolved the issue. I have since gone through all the access permutations and have achieved the correct results in every case. I must come up with a more robust troubleshooting formula :-) I guess missing the smaller things sometimes goes with the territory when you are up to all hours.

In response to your questions - your understanding was correct, and I was logged in at the front end. I have set up a couple of accounts with differing access rights that I am using to test things out. Sometimes the 'silly' questions are appropriate - it wouldn't be the first time someone forgot to 'switch the power on'.

Thanks again for the thoughts and interest. I am very impressed with the level and quality of support that is awarded in this environment.

    Regards
