I'm sure this has been covered (view details - read only)

I've looked over the forums and have been unable to locate an exact solution. In my chronoconnectivity table I've created I'd simply like to put a "view details" link at the end of each record. What I cannot figure out is how to get the detail page to be "read only" for the front end user. I have tried the profile plugin but I still get an editable detail page.

Can someone please point me in the right direction - I'm sure this has to be fairly simple.
