[SOLVED] blank page in IE8 & IE9beta

TBolt 12 Oct, 2010
Hi, folks. I just noticed that my web contact form is just a blank white page in IE8 and IE9beta. I copied the errors from IE8. I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me how to resolve this -- I need to get this site launched.

This is the first time I've had this problem with ChronoForms, & this is the fist time I've used this RocketTheme template (Omnicron).

Thank you, as always! 🙂

Tough issue. Getting help via email. Thanks, Max!

Hi TBolt,

Is this fixed? I'm not seeing any problems here in IE8?

Hi, Grey.

No, not resolved yet really. We turned off the CSS files in ChronoForms, but the layout is not as nice now. So, I'm hoping that RocketTheme will be able to help me further. Max said this:

I checked the page but its hard to find whats causing it because there are alot of JS used, but if its the RT theme then they may be using Mootools 1.2 or JQuery and this makes some conflicts.

Hi Tbolt,

It's hard to tell with the script compression/caching on.

Please take a Form Backup using the icon in the Forms Manager and post it here (as a zipped file) or PM or email it to me and I'll install Omicron on a test site and take a closer look.

Wow, thank you Bob! I would appreciate the double-check. Anything related to JS is beyond me.

I hope .rar is okay.

Hi TBolt,

The form looks fine in Omnicron in IE8 (ChronoForms CSS/JS on but no template extensions installed). Looks like there may be a JavaScript conflict with something else on your page. If you turn the compression off for a while that might be causing it or might let us diagnose what is causing it.

Wonderful . . . I'm glad you were able to get the form to work in the Omnicron template. How do I turn off the compression? I didn't see 'compression' in the forms manager. Or, are the compression settings something the host controls? I will gladly turn it off once I know how.

Thank you for your help thus far, Bob!

Oh, I found it! You were speaking of the RokGZipper plugin.
I disabled it.
Re-activated the JS/CSS files in the forms manager.
Now, the form looks right in IE9beta. Will test in IE8 on another machine later.

Bob, thank you SO VERY much, sir! You found the problem!

I appreciate your follow-up! 🙂

[EDIT]
The captcha issue exists only in IE9beta, not IE8. Perhaps it is something that Max could prepare for leading up to the release of IE9, but I'm not going to worry about it. I won't expect everything to work in a beta browser.

Thank you again for your great help, Bob! 🙂
[/EDIT]

wait...wait...discovered one issue. The captcha picture isn't displaying proplerly. If we can fix that, we're good to go.

Hi TBolt,

Looks Ok from here - on your site in IE8.

You may find it better to use the with-fonts option, the image is much easier to read.

Thank you, Bob. If I use the with fonts option, I find that the captcha image is squished & illegible - even in IE8. When set to 'without fonts,' I can read the image in IE8. Are you seeing the opposite?

Right now, I have it set to 'without fonts.' (Or, at least I see 'Without Fonts' in the drop-down menu next to 'What type of image to show?')
