Parameters box is missing

e-itguy.com 07 Sep, 2010
I'm upgrading a clients website from Chronoforms v3.0 to the latest version of Chronoforms. When I tried the installation on our dev site I ran into some problems. I uninstalled both the old version of Chronoforms and the old Chronoforms plugin before installing. However, when I installed Chronoforms the parameters button was missing from the forms management page, leaving me unable to validate the installation. (see attached screenshot) I'm also worried that this might be symptomatic of a deeper problem with the installation not completing successfully. Uninstalling and reinstalling the component doesn't change anything.

Hi e-itguy.com,

This looks like an old version of the installer. You are also missing the validation message bar under the links menu.

Sorry for the delay in my reply. I was expecting an e-mail update once you replied. My fault.

As for the installer, I downloaded the latest version directly from the site before I installed (v3.1 RC5.5 - see attachment) Everything else seems to be functioning fine. My short term priority is to validate the install and get rid of the Chronoforms link for my client. Is there someway that I can input the key manually to validate the install without having the 'parameters' box to click on in the backend?

Hi e-itguy.com,

That's the latest version. How odd that the parameters icon doesn't show.

There is a direct url that should get you to the config dialogue
index.php?option=com_config&controller=component&component=com_chronocontact

When I enter in the link you gave me it states that I am not authorized to view this resource. My client currently has me limited to admin level. Do I need to be a super administrator to use this workaround? Or does one have to be at the super admin level for the parameters box to show up in the first place?

Hi e-itguy.com ,

Ahh . . . that explains why you don't see the Parameters icon only.

I wouldn't try to do much development work without SuperAdmin status. Ask them nicely to upgrade you.

Bob

PS It is possible in Joomla! to upgrade yourself but better ask the client first.
