Can't see top tool bar for new form-Joomla 1.0.13

bkudrle 24 Aug, 2007
This is a funny bug.face-meh-blank I have ChronoEngine forms 2.3 RC1 working on one of my regular web sites that is running Joomla 1.0.12. I have just created another web site with Joomla 1.0.13. It is also different because it is on a secure site (https://...). I install ChronoEngine forms 2.3 RC1 on that fine (along with the Mambot), but now when I try to create a new form, all of the icons at the top disapper. Of course, this makes it then impossible to click the save button to save the form after editing the changes in the form. Does anyone have any ideas why this might happen or how it might be fixed.

Also, I have just tested this on another web site that is also secure (https://...) but uses Joomla 1.0.12 - and it seems to work OK. So it looks like it is a problem with Joomla 1.0.13 and ChronEngine forms 2.3 RC1 working together well. Also, the behavior is the same for Firefox or IE. Has anyone tested this yet?

Also, I just tested ChronoEngine forms 2.2.1 (latest stable version) and it DOES seem to work OK. So I think that I will go with that.

Thanks.<br><br>Post edited by: bkudrle, at: 2007/08/24 04:52

So it looks like it is a problem with Joomla 1.0.13 and ChronEngine forms 2.3 RC1 working together well.

Well I've got the same problem - not showing Chronoengine 2.3RC1 menu bar (edit, cancel) when editing or creating new forms - under Joomla 1.0.12. In fact Joomla administrator menu disappears too.

But not on all platforms. I've got two Joomla identical installation on different servers. That one running PHP 5.2.3 runs fine while that on PHP 4.1.2 fails. Chronoengine 2.2.1 runs fine on both.

It's rather unpleasant that my production server is on PHP 4.1.2 = chrono fails. Update from 2.2.1, fresh install, cleaning cache did not help.

ANY suggestion how to fix it will be appreciated.<br><br>Post edited by: MarHaj, at: 2007/09/10 13:47

Hi MarHaj,

I have a couple of installations where the two work OK together - both under PHP5 though.

A couple of questions just to check some things out.

First, I'm assuming that you are running on http (not https like the previous poster)?

Second, when you say that the Joomna admin menu disappears that's just with ChronoForms (with other components it's OK)?

Do you get any error message? If not, please can you try temorarily setting the error reporting higher in System Admin and see if any clues show up.

Thanks

Bob

Hi GreyHead,

I've got absolutely no installation problems.
No error messages during installation and after it too.
Running http protocol.
Joomla admin menu disappears just with Chronoforms - edit/new form.
Another hint: the diseppearing is accompanied by the visible increase of the font size - I am attaching an zipped image of it.

I think switching to the debug mode is a great idea. I will do it during night (my site is rather visited one) an will let you know the result. [file name=PHP4.zip size=27995]http://www.chronoengine.com/components/com_fireboard/uploaded/files/PHP4.zip[/file]

I did it.
The results are sad: not only I can't see the menu toolbar I can't see debug results too.
In PHP5 Chronoforms installation is everything fine again.
I do apologize.

It seems that there must be something in the function editChronoContact in admin.chronocontact.html.php
I will go through it. There are not so many changes with respect to the 2.2.1 version...

The hypotheses above was confirmed:
when I rewrite 2.3RC1 admin.chronocontact.html.php file with the old 2.2.1 file it works well. Tested several times, stable behavior: there is something wrong with 2.3RC1 admin.chronocontact.html.php (in my PHP4 configuration).

The research will continue...

Hi MarHaj,

Thanks for trying to get this fix, I will test this too later today.

Hi All,

I can't generate this case here under PHP 5 or 4!!

Please post your server details or any clue when exactly this happens.

Thank you!!

Thanks Max,
I did not succeeded to install locally the same obsolete PHP 4.1.2 as my provider runs. And testing admin.chronocontact.html.php modifications on production server is rather above my courage.
I include php info in the attachment.

Max you need not waste your time with this kind of - as I see - unique problem. I will force my provider to do php upgrade in a week or I will change him. Solving the problems is always easier then to search mystique reason of the problem.

I have migrated from PHP 4.1.2 to 5.x.x at my webhosting.
Chronoforms is working as expected. I recommend all users of PHP 4 the migration.

I wish the developers great patience with us - not so much professional users - and great endurance and passion they have in developing their GREAT product - Chronoforms. We really appreciate your contribution!

Hi Guys,

I seem to be having the same problem with the Administrator menu not displaying. I'm running PHP 5.1.2 on a Linux Server and have upgraded to ChronoForms 2.3.4.

Installation went smoothly, but I've noticed that Components installer screen is displaying the version number as 2.3.2. I've definitely installed 2.3.4 - infact, yesterday was my first installation, so 2.3.2 was never installed on the server.

Am I missing something obvious?

See attached image for example.

Really hope that someone can help🙂

Many thanks!
Gary

Hi Gary,

Forgive me but sometimes I keep the main version number and just change the version number at the installer file zip name, so if the file you installed says its 2.3.4 then its 2.3.4 but don't worry about the version appear at the backend!!

Hi Max,

Thanks for the quick response. Any ideas why the Administrator Menu isn't appearing?

I've just upgraded to the licensed version (sent this morning) but I'm having the same problem.

Any thoughts?

Hope you can help?

Hi Gary,

Do you mean the main joomla admin menu which has "home-menu-modules...etc" by the word "administrator menu" ?

when it disappears exactly ?

Sincerely,

Max

Hi Max,

Sorry, I've been an idiot

I didn't mean Administrator Menu at all... I mean't 'Configuration' Menu:

Conponents > Chrono Forms > Configuration

Has this been depreciated? I'd been trying to create a customised email and your FAQ says:

Go to Components > Chrono Forms > Configuration > set In which format to send the results email? to "My template"

Since posting yesterday, I've noticed an option in the 'Forms Management' Menu which allows me to select the option above.

So I guess the Configuration and Forms Management Menus have been merged?

BTW - I really think this product is brilliant. Looking forward to seeing it Joomla 1.5🙂

All the best.

Hi Gary,

yes it has been merged because we used it at the "create new menu item" screen😉

We are adding more advanced features soon and will need some space so this free up some space too.

Conversion to the J1.5 version is 40% done but some trouble here stopped me, will get it done ASAP.

Thank you!
