ReCaptcha plugin doesn't actually stop anything

David Blum 02 Aug, 2010
I got the ReCaptcha plugin working, or at least it seemed to be working, but when I tested it by trying to submit the form without entering anything in the ReCaptcha blank, it submitted! What do I do to make the ReCaptcha plugin useful as well as ornamental?

Hi David Blum,

Please can you post a link to the form so we can take a look. Usually it just works.

Actually, I think I may have figured out what I did wrong. I changed the form's "action" URL to allow another page to collect the information from the form. I suppose that bypasses ChronoForms entirely, rendering the plugin useless, doesn't it?

Trying to figure out how to get around this problem, I'm wondering if it's possible to use the ReCaptcha plugin on only the first page of a multi-page form?

Hi David Blum,

Yes, changing the action URL makes most of ChronoForms in-operative.

You can use ReCaptcha on just the first page of a multi-page form (with some code to prevent direct access to the remaining pages). That's how I would use it in that case.

How can I figure out which ChronoForms functions require the action URL not to be changed?

Edit: Since this is no longer plugin-specific, I'll create a new topic outside the Plugins forum.

Hi David Blum,

The only thing that will work is displaying and submitting the form. ChronoForms will not see the form after it is submitted and will not be able to do serverside validation, send emails, save data, show thank you pages or redirect users.
