Problem with linking to form from menu in an article

RCheesley 06 Jul, 2010
Hi guys,

Just had a bit of an oddity in that a client emailed me to say a link they had made was resulting in a 404 error. Having looked at it I know where the error is arising, but not how to fix it.

Basically we use JCE (as do many Joomla! sites) and when clients create links we advise them to use the in-built browsing system to create the link for them rather than copy/paste if it's an internal link.

My client did this to create a link within an article to a form that she had made, which was available through the main menu. She browsed to Main Menu>Her Form and used this as the link.

What seems to have happened is that for some reason, rather than linking to /form it is liking to /categoryoforiginalarticle/form.

I have not been able to find a JCE plugin for Chronoforms so have, for now, told them to manually copy/paste the URL to the form in the URL box rather than use the browsing system, but I thought you should know as I'm sure this has happened before and will happen again!

Hi Ruth,

Thanks for the fix. I have seen some other cases where menus get messed up if something else is re-writing URLs - usually the answer is to use an External menu item. I guess that Max needs to write a Router for ChronoForms.
