submit button isn't working for int'l people

cvandijk 10 May, 2010
Hi,
My client has a site hosted in the US. They do training all over the world. I used the form to build registration forms that people fill out and then when they hit submit, it directs them to PayPal. When I created a PayPal button, I created a button that accepts internation currency. People who live in the US do not have a problem with the "submit" button - works just find. But if the person lives in another country, sometimes the button does not work. When you pressed the submit button, the page that came up said something like, page does not exist, out of time. There is a banner across the page that showed a circle with ! through it.

Is the problem with the submit button or PayPal or what? is there something i can do to the form so it will work for people living in another country?

Hi cvandijk,

If it works in the USA then probably it shoudl work elsewhere. No other useful suggestions to make. If you have the URL or a screenshot of the error page that might help; or a link to form so taht we can test?

Apparently the problem has happened again. The people who are trying to register are in London. Either they are having the problem when they click on the "international" button at the bottom of the page or after they fill out the form and hit submit, it never re-directs to PayPal and times out. Here is the error someone got today when they clicked on the international button:

"When I pressed the submit button, the page that came up said something like, page does not exist, out of time. There was a banner across the page that showed a circle with ! through it."

I just check the button and it works from, but I live in Iowa.

Hi cvandijk,

I'm not at all sure what to suggest. I'm in rural France and just checked several buttons and forms and they all took me to PayPal without any undue delay :-(

I'll have a think about this; off the top of my head there a couple of workarounds that might help but are not ideal. You could add an intermediate confirmation page after the form is submitted with just a PayPal button so that any pre-processing has already been done (would be like the DVD button). Or - more complicated - you could switch to use the API and keep the user on your site.

Thanks. I think the problem is local to the person who is trying to register. I think maybe they are using dial-up which would explain a lot. My client kept thinking the problem was with the site, now we know it is not.
