Joomla registration activation email not working

zbolt 15 Apr, 2010
Hello,

I am using chronoforms as my joomla site registration form. I have turned off the Joomla 'allow user registration' and turned on the chronoforms 'Override Joomla's Allow User Registration'. Everything seems to work fine, except the activation email I get, for my test user, returns a '403 - Access Forbidden!' when i click on the link in the email.

When I turn on the Joomla 'allow user registration' it does work properly, but I need to keep this off so people use the chronoform registration.

Any suggestions?

Hi zbolt,

What is he link in the email? Do you have some kind of SEF URLs enabled?

Hey Bob,

No I don't have any special SEF URL's Enabled. Here is the link in the email

index.php?option=com_user&task=activate&activation=

Hi zbolt,

Is that the whole url - it stops at activation= ?? There should be a long random string after that which is the activation code.

Has anyone from Chronoengine had an opportunity to look into this?

Thanks...

Hi jsadik,

There's nothing much to look into. It's a perfectly standard Joomla activation link as far as I can see.

Do you have user registration enabled on your site?

Bob,

'Allow User registration' is set to 'no' in global configuration, but 'Override Joomla's Allow User Registration' is set to 'yes' in the 'Joomla registration' plugin for the form. This is so users are unable to access the default registration form.

When 'allow user registration' is set to 'yes' the link works, but then the user can still access the default reg form.

Thanks,
Jonathan
