Is it only a date or is there the ability to select a time as well? as the name implies?

There is no time picker in the Aeron calendar that Max uses in the present release. The is in the standard Joomla calendar used in previous releases (though it's not very pretty). The code to use the Joomla calendar is in the forums here several times.
You can see an example of the Joomla calendaer configured with a time picker in the WatchMan plugin setup. There's also a 'timespinner' installed there which I think is both prettier and easier to use to pick a time.
