File uploads not working

When I try the form with an upload I get this message

Sorry, Your uploaded file size exceeds the allowed limit.
Sorry, Your uploaded file type is not allowed

I have debug on but it doesn't give me an output.

Ah, I think I found the problem. There are field to fill out in the upload button. However, I can't figure out how to make the symbol to separate file types?
Edit: this is the symbol | which I found somewhere and was able to copy and paste. But what is the hotkey to use for PC (not mac)?

It's the 'pipe' or 'vertical bar' character shift+\ on my UK keyboard. It appears to be the same on a US keyboard though the location is very different. Alt + 0124 also seems to create it
