PayPal and Chronoform

zdmdesignz 05 Nov, 2009
I am interested in buying a subscription to Chronoform but I have a question. If I am wanting to use paypal integration with chronoform, do I need to buy both the chronoform subscription ($25) AND the "Paypal Plug," ($30)?

What exactly is the PayPal plug and how does it differ from the PayPal plugin that comes with chronoform?

Thanks.

Hi zdmdesignz,

The PayPal Plugin is designed to work with the PayPal Advanced API and you need more than a basic PayPal account to use it. I forget the exact details off the top of my head.

The version of the plugin that comes with ChronoForms is exactly the same as the one you pay for **except** that the free version randomises the amount - so best only to use it for testing.

If you don't need the advanced API features then you can manage standard PayPal account transactions perfectly well with the ReDirect Plugin.

Thanks for the quick response. Just to be clear that I am understanding you correctly, because I am on the fence between Chronoforms and RSFormPro:

1. the redirect plugin is free and it will redirect my customers to paypal upon submission of form. Will the values entered in the form be transfered to the PayPal fields on redirect or do I need the API to do that?

2. What exactly does the API do and what extra features does it offer me?

Thanks again.

Hi zdmdesignz.

The ReDirect Plugin is free and it will redirect your client to a 'normal' PayPal payment page. You can include as much information as you like from the from or from other sources - subject to what PayPal can handle.

The API is a more advanced PayPal interface, I think the main difference is that you can keep the client on your site and not pass them to PayPal at all. PayPal info is here

Max developed this for one of his clients, I've not used it so can't tell you much more than that.

Which one you need is a design decision for you and your client - it depends on the level of integration they need and the kind of Paypal account they want to sign up for.
