Condition in email template

Hello,
I think I have heard that conditions in the email template need to be php programmed. I would therefore like to generate a php file by defining the fields I want to display and then put in the conditions.

My questions is, I hope, quite simple: What is the generated file called and where would I find it?

You put the php in the email template; to do tht you need to turn off the 'rich text editor' in the Email Setup Properties box.
