So when we develop websites, they are always under our company domain name. Then we move them over to the permanent domain name.
Should we wait to validate the domain until after it's moved and just deal with having the backlink to ChronoEngine.com during development or is there another option?

No that will work, I'll just always tell the client that once the site is moved off of the development server than the credit link will not be there - due to licensing agreements.
