Required fields not validated during entry

judyksp 13 Sep, 2009
I am using Joomla 1.5.14 and I have just updated to the lastest version of Chronoforms. My forms are showing fine and the information is sent to me without any problems eithers.

My only issue is with validation. All the fields are required fields (I indicated that when I create the forms) but nothing is validated. When I click SUBMIT, the only thing that gets validated is the Captcha area. If I do not enter anything except for the Captcha and then click SUBMIT, I will still get the standard message which says everything is okay.

I have not written any server side validation because I thought that the validation would be done when I tick REQUIRED in creation of the field. Am I wrong to think that?

Or is there something I did not do right? My site is <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.jfkenterprises.net">www.jfkenterprises.net</a><!-- w --> and you can see the form in Contact Us.

Hi Judyksp,

You have JQuery enabled on the page and it conflicts with the MooTools library that Joomla and ChronoForms use. If you view the form without the template the validation is working OK.

There are instructions in the forum here about configuring JQuery to work with MooTools.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for your quick response. I hope you can assist me a little bit more here. I was searching the forum and could not find anywhere that would guide me on how to configure it to work with Chronoforms. Perhaps I am just not looking at the right place because all I could find is people stating that they have turned off JQuery to make Chronoforms work. Could you point me to the right forum where I can find the configuration please?

Thanks.

Hi Bob

Thanks a lot. I have gone through that post. The one thing I do not understand is that I am not using any accordian module as stated in that post. I guess I am still in a blur on this matter. In fact, I do not even know where the JQuery is used in my site. Is there any way around resolving this other than reconfiguring the JQuery (where I do not know where it is) or deactivating JQuery (where again I do not know where it is being used)?

Thanks and regards

Hi judyksp,

The menus in your template are driven by JQuery which is a JavaScript Framework.

If you get FireBug in FireFox you will be able to see the location and the 50 or 60 JQuery scriptlets on the page.

Sorry, I can't be much more help but this really isn't a ChronoForms problem.

Hi Bob

Did not realize that the menus were using JQuery. Thanks for pointing it out. I do understand that this is not Chronoform's problem. Thanks for all the support you have given so far. You have a great software there.

Regards
