Can't get started

I have downloaded version 3.1_rc5.5 but when I try to install it (not previous version on the server), it acts like it installed but complete white screen and nothing installs. Any ideas? Just for info. I'm running Joomla 1.5.14 on a Windows box (sorry - am planning to upgrade to Ubuntu very soon) and MySQL server 5.0) Have used previous versions of this and love it!

You've probably hit the problem with the 'Daily Hints' RSS feed. There are a few posts here that give the URL to go and disable it. Don't have time to search right now - lunch is on the table . . .
