Tootips won't display

junkah 21 Jul, 2009
Hi!

I'm using Joomla 1.5.12, ChronoForms V3.1 RC5.3, YooTheme Template Phoenix.

The forms I am using have captcha validation and one of them sends files (if that matters).

The tooltips do not show up. Using Firebug, I see that they are there, but for whatever reasons they are not showing. I had an older ChronoForms (RC4.11, I think) installed and the tooltips worked on that. There is a menu system running, you just can't see it unless you look at the code. YooToolTips is working fine on the same site.

Any suggestions? I searched the forum for a quite some time and couldn't find anything to help me. Thanks!

regards,
Junkah

Hi Junkah,

Tooltips are showing up OK for me in FireFox and in IE8 (see image from IE)

That is so strange, they only appear in IE 8 for me. I'm running FF 3.0.11 and they're just not showing up. I've hit ctrl+f5 dozens of times and other changes have appeared, but these are just not showing up. I'm going to try to clear all my FF browsing data and see if that helps. Any suggestions? Thanks for the prompt reply.

Hi Junkah,

I'm using FF 3.5 and they show OK - a bit slow for the first one but that may just be the amount of Javascript on the page.

Try clearing your browser cache and see if that does the trick.

Thanks, I'll upgrade my FF and see if that works, but I would really like it to work for older versions as well - I can't expect site users to have the most updated browsing software. I tried changing tooltip.png and tooltip.css to 755 but that didn't do it.

Do you think there is a JS conflict? If so, does it make sense that it only happens in FF? I don't know enough about JS to know how I would fix this.

Thanks again for the great support.

Hi Junkah,

I don't think that the FF version is the problem. It should work equally well under 3.0, I just happen to have upgraded.

I don't think that there is any obvious conflict here.

Bob

PS Your tooltips are fine for me in Chrome, Opera, IE7 and IE8 (but broken in IE6)

Hmm, Ok, I'll have more people test it. If I'm the ONLY one with an issue, it doesn't really matter. Thanks again for your time.
