Is this possible with Chronoforms?

webedge 18 Jul, 2009
I need a Joomla 1.5 extension that will allow a user to submit a question via a text field, the back-end administrator can then sort submitted questions into specific pre-determined categories (such as general, support, etc) and publish it back onto the front end so that it is viewable in said category. The users of the site would then be able to read the questions browsing by category.

Anyone know of anything that could do this?

Thanks.

Hi webedge,

You can do that with ChronoForms + ChronoConnectivity.

You'd have one ChronoConnectivity Admin list to show the uncategorised questions with a drop-down to select a category; and one or more front-end ChronoConnectivity lists to display the catagorised questions.

Thanks Bob, looks like it should be the solution I am after.

Having a bit of an issue with Chronoforms though. I am unable to save or preview any forms in the form wizard. The bar comes up as does the dark overlay (like a shadowbox is trying to load) but it just sits there forever without saving.

I am using the latest version of CF and a fresh install of Joomla 1.5.11. Happens in both FF and IE7 and on 3 different pc's. I have also cleared the cache several times and re-installed, but still no luck.

Cheers,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I wonder if this is the RSS problem with the 'daily hint' that Max has added? Please go to this link (replace your_domain.com with your domain)
http://your_domain.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_config&controller=component&component=com_chronocontact
and turn the daily hint off. Hopefully this will clear the problem.

Thanks Bob but I did try that already as I noticed that as a solution in another thread. Still no luck though.

Hi Andrew,

Hmmm . . . I'm running CF OK on Joomla 1.5.12 (and I ran the last release OK on 1.5.11 in FireFox). I've no real idea what to suggest.

If the site is on-line and it's OK with you do PM or E-mail me a SuperAdmin login and I'll take a look and see if I can spot anything.

Hi Andrew,

Still not much idea what the answer is but I see a JavaScript error when I try to save a form from the Wizard on your site

smoothbox.js (line 422)
$E("div.tooltipdiv", ed.getParent().getParent()) is null
anonymous(img.tooltipimg tooltip.png)
TB_show("Save Form", "http://www.Your_domain.net/administrator/index.php?option=com_chronocontact&task=form_wizard#TB_inline&height=200&width=200&inlineId=save_form", Object name=rel value=false)smoothbox.js (line 417)
TB_bind(Object $extended=true event=Event click type=click)smoothbox.js (line 34)
[Break on this error] var Tips2 = new Tips(ed, $E('div.toolt...().getNext().getProperty('id')+'_s'});\r\n

The versions of SmoothBox apprear to be the same on your site and on mine (where save works OK).

Hopefully Max may have a suggestion, I'm not at all familiar with the Wizard code.

thanks Bob.

Do you have a previous version I could possibly try, I remember an older version of Chronoforms didn't use the smoothbox/lightbox pop up?

Thanks.

Hopefully this might help to diagnose the problem:

I have tried installing ChronoForm on 5 different hosting accounts (all with the same hosting provider) and I still encounter this issue.

However I tried installing on a clients site that is hosted elsewhere, and everything works fine.

Could it be a server setting causing the issue?

Hi webedge,

That looks like a strong indicator - though I have no idea what might be causing the problem at one particular host.

Perhaps their help line has some suggestions; or the server log shows up something?
