Block Disposable Email Domains like whatever@mailinator.com

Is there already domain validation on email addresses?

If not, could someone share some code?

Is there a place on the web that hosts an updated and comprehensive list of disposable email domains?

Hi aef03,

There is no domain validation on email addresses. And, I'm sorry, I don't know of any such list though it must exist somewhere.

I know this is a really old post - but I have the Javascript code that I use in front of a linklokurl form - if you had that code, any change you could work it into the product as PHP?

Hi aef03,

There's a thread here about using Server-side validation to block selected IP addresses - you could probably do the same with a list of domains.

I found a joomla plugin that integrates with CB and Joomla registration. It checks lists of known disposable email domains. It is here: http://www.cedit.biz/joomla-extensions/22-block-disposable-email-addresses.html

If I install it, will any errors from it automatically flow through to Chrono if I am using Joomla or CB registration plugins?

Is there any possibility of integrating this support directly into the product?

This is a big issue for lead capture because if 50% of my database is disposable addresses, I am going to a lot of effort to send emails and it affects my perception of response stats because these addresses will never respond and I may have many of them for the same contact.

Also puts a lot of garbage into Joomla/CB if I am creating profiles from Chronos data.

Would be awesome if Chronos was my gatekeeper to this nasty problem!

Thanks for your consideration,
D.

Hi aef03,

I'll take a look.

Hi aef03,

I took a first look at the cedit.biz extension and I can see the usefulness.

The default extension uses the Joomla option parameter to trigger the searches and it's only designed to work with contact and registation forms. I'm looking at how best to bring the same functionality (more or less) into ChronoForms plugins.

So far I have an IP test working in the Watchman plugin - that seemed a more logical home for it than the registration plugins. It effectively allows you to blacklist IP addresses on formload (for any form) so that the user never gets a chance to submit.

I'll test this a little more and then release a beta copy.

PS As I write I think I will also add the ability to share a file-based block list so that you don't have to update multiple plugins. I need to work that out first though so it may not make the first beta.

Later: import from a shared file is working.

Awesome that you are looking into it!

I had also thought that if you were serious enough about it you could directly integrate into undisposable.net and stopforumspam directly like the plug-in itself does.

Your solution is already head and shoulders above other form solutions - but I think this type of support is a defining difference at just the right time. You can really make a strong, self-proving case for the value of having this functionality.

hi there greyhead,

any developments on this front........

Hi khalidkhan,

Nothing new I'm afraid, I did a little work then got sidetracked onto other stuff.

That's OK, I did it for you😉

I purchased the component and later made an integration request. The author is very eager to add integrations. I am running a pre-release copy that is integrated with Chronoforms. Combined with AcyMailing I now have an awesome low cost leads capture capability without cluttering my Joomla / CB user database with leads capture data (Joomla/CB is also used as a simple CRM on the same site).

Will post here when the version that includes Chronoforms integration goes public.

Any chance you could award me a free license for my efforts?

Thanks,
D.

Hi both,

Unfortunately I don't have any licenses to give but hopefully Max will be generous when he passes by.

Thanks for the work.

Looking for a list of dea providers?

The new service http://www.block-disposable-email.com helps you to detect subscribers with one-time mail addresses. There is not a list but an always up-to-date service with currently > 1.000 domains.

Regards,

Gerold
