How to amend Joomla Registration form?

I understand that chronoform can be linked to joomla registration form. however, is there any way to create a new form which is adminstrated by joomla? which means to amend current joomla registration form and add in other fields, like age and gender.

the chronoform can be used to register users to the site only, you ca nadd extra fields too but they will stored in a separate table!
