Validation does not work in FF - but does in IE7

Hi Guys,

I have just started out with this component and perhaps it's just something I have done but I created a basic form using only the wizard and when trying it out discovered that validation does not work in FF3. I have tried it out in IE7 and the fields validate properly.

I do have some javascript in my template but after reading suggestions in this forum I disabled them all and tried again with no luck.

So just wondering if anyone knows if there's a reason this would not work in firefox specifically?

I am using the most recent version of chronoforms.

Thanks.

Hi 287d,

Usually things work in FF and break in IE . . . . can you post a link to the form please?

Hi,

thanks for your reply. Exactly what I thought - it's always a surprise when IE works over FF... (Also validation doesn't work in other browsers like Safari - but I expect it would if it worked in FF?)

The link to the rough test form is: http://www.giros-seguros.com/index.php?option=com_chronocontact&chronoformname=ContactUs

Just to note that I didn't fill in any of the boxes backend for validation, just used the form as the wizard created. Have yet to test in FF2 or IE6 etc.

Thanks for having a look. Feel free to submit as the emails dont go to a main address.

This seems to be a great component and I hope I get it to work, especially as I the site uses Joomfish.

Hi guys,

not sure if this helps or not, but I was playing around and set the templates that come with joomla as defaults and tested validation with firefox.

Beez and JA_Purity submitted without validating, but with rhuk_milkyway validation was successful.
Also, I don't have this problem when going to the livevalition site or when I tried CF out on another site...

But obviously it's something that is in the former two and my own template that is conflicting, but I have no clue what it is.
Is anyone using beez or ja_purity and come across this issue?

Many thanks.

Hi 287d,

please remove the reset button and see if it works ?

hi guys,

did as you suggested but the form submitted without validation. (still validates ok in ie7).

i'm trying to go through the difference between the templates to see what could be blocking it but i'm very confused.
any other ideas?

Check this one:
http://www.giros-seguros.com/index2.php?option=com_chronocontact&chronoformname=ContactUs

it will work fine in FF, I'm not sure what breaks it, you have many swf and js files loaded n the page, maybe try the form alone in some page, disable any content or system plugins you installed while testing!

Hi Max,

Interesting. I see what you mean and will try out various things tonight and let you know what happened.

It's very odd though that the error also occurred in some of the joomla default templates, which made me think that it's a common conflict rather than something to do with the modules.
Anyway. I will try it all out with a blank page and rebuild and report back.

Thanks for looking into it.
