Everything seems in order but I think I am missing something

pmsquillace 19 Jun, 2009
Hello All:

I have a form at this URL - and even though I followed the registration tutorial step by step the form does not submit the user into the users or jos_users table.

Whats more, how do I get the rest of my form fields into the database for viewing later?

Do I need to create a table for this?

Do I need to connect to the db jos_users for it to go into the users?

Thanks for any help or advice.

Hi pmsqillance,

There are some small bugs in the current version of the Joomla Registration plugin. There's a development version posted in a couple of other threads that is fixed - it's Ok to use provided on it's own but the supporting Helper file may not work with other plugins.

Max is planning to release a new bundle of plugins in the next few days that will fix thia.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the info. Am I correct in that a form should connect to a DB in order to work properly with the joomla reg? That PDF I got out of your tutorials seemed to be missing that part if that is the case.

The funny thing is that I got a couple of registrants to go into my joomla site before this all went belly up and I was trying to figure out what i did right those times .LOL..

Hi Paul,

From memory I don't think that you need a DB Connection for this to work with a basic registration where your form only has the Joomla fields - ChronoForms uses a clone of the Joomla code to save the registration info to jos_users. If you want to collect and save other info then, yes you will need a DB Connection.

BTW the bug with the current plugin release is that is changes the names of some fields - so email becomes E-mail I think, and id becomes ID. It's possible to bypass this by editing the chronocontact_plugins table entry to correct the parameters.

OK, I took your advice that you said here...

do you means chronocontact_plugins as in the tables in the joomla tables.

When I went in there I found the table jos_chrono_contact_plugins but not the paramaters that you are talking about.

Uhg...sorry to be a pest Bob..

Thanks for any help or advice you can give on this,

ok, so using the RC5.2

My users go into the db on my server but do not show in Joomla under users. I turned on the DB Table connection because I thought it would need to be on being I need it to register.

In the plugin section, what is the +/- next to the plugin name. Does this need to be a certain number?

Thanks again for any help with this,

Paul

Hi Paul,

the fields names in the plugin config did not match those in the form code and so it was failing, fixing this fixed it!
