Hello,
I have set the parameters to allow Authors to Super Admins to publish and edit comments from the front end.
When I login and go to the page the comments should be on, I get the message: "Please login to post comments or replies." When I go to the login page again, the system knows that I am logged in. Could you please explain how to do front end comment moderation. What needs to be set how and where does the moderator go to publish comments or edit them.
Joomla 1.5.10, Chroncomment 1.2.
Thank you.
Hi ljk,
Just checking - there are separate logins for the front and back ends. Are you logging in to the Front End to test?
Bob
Hi,
Yes, logging into the front end using mod_login. Back end works fine for admins. But I wanted to have someone with Author privledges to be able to moderate the comments from the frontend.
Thanks.
Hi ljk,
Make sure Public Front-end and Public Back-end are de-selected. Try that and let us know how it works out.
Aloha,

Hello,
Makes no difference if Public-frontend and Backend are selected or not, still the same error message for the logged in Author:
Please login to post comments or replies.
Any other ideas?
Thanks for the help.
You're welcome, ljk!
Here's how my parameters are set up in the backend:
Unpublish Groups - Administrator, Super Administrator (highlighted)
Edit Groups - Author, Editor, Publisher, Manager, Administrator, Super Administrator (highlighted)
User can edit own comment - yes
Public Front-end, Public Back-end are de-selected for both groups.
When I login to the front end on my site, the Edit and Unpublish buttons appear for all comments.
(Edit) What about your Posting Permissions? My set-up: Registered, Author, Editor, Publisher, Manager, Administrator, Super Administrator (highlighted); Public Front-end, Public Back-end (not selected).
Hope this helps.
Hello,
Thank you again for your help. We are getting closer. I only had Registered users allowed in the Posting Group. I have now set the Posting Group to be as you specified and verified that the Unpublish Group, Edit Group and allow user edits are set as you specified.
Now when I login as an Author I see the Comment form, but none of the unpublished comments on the page are displayed. I can only add a new comment, there isn't any comments to edit or publish showing up. I see them in the backend and when I click the view link I am taken to the page that the comments should be on, but they aren't showing up. When I go to the login page, it is showing that I am logged in and can only log out.
Thanks.
Hello,
I logged in to the frontend as a Super Admin user and still can not see any of the comments that have been posted by registered users or my own comment that I posted.
UnPublish Groups has Author, Editor, Publisher, Manager, Admin and Super Admin highlighted.
Posting Groups and Edit Groups has everything highlighted except for Public Frontend and Public Back-end.
Thank you again for your help.
Are your comments verified and published? Unpublished comments can only be seen and activated in the back-end. If you unpublish a comment in the front-end, the only way to view, edit and re-publish it is through the back-end.
What are your settings for Guests can post, New Comments Default to & Send Verification Emails?
Can you please post the link to your site?
Hello,
That solves the problem. I was trying to moderate the comments from the front-end meaning that the moderator would be able to publish new comments or edit them before publishing them from the front-end. But if comments can only be published from the back-end that explains why they are not showing in the front-end.
Is there any plans to allow moderators to publish comments from the front-end in future? I really didn't want to give backend access to the person that is doing the moderation of the comments, I just want them to be able to review and edit comments and if acceptable to be able to publish them from the front-end.
Once again thank you for your help on this.
Anyone can help me user why can't edit your own comment??
In the admin area the "User can edit own comment" checked yes. But after the user login and post comment there is no Edit button.
