Warning: /var.............. unwritable........

word warrior 22 May, 2009
While I'm trying to learn how to post the content of my simple 'test' form into another menu item (page) I noticed in the backend Forms manager that I get the following warning:-

Warning: /var/www/vhosts/mydomain.com/httpdocs/administrator/cache/9b8ac9887872716cae1ceea4dea3bd58.spc is not writeable in /var/www/vhosts/mydomain.com/httpdocs/libraries/simplepie/simplepie.php on line 1623

I have tried changing the permissions on the obvious files but no go.
Any ideas?
Andy
P.S. I may be back for further guidance on posting collected data if the reams of paper (tutorial) I've just printed don't help 😀

Hi word warrior,

Looks like the Joomla administrator/cache folder isn't writable.

PS Simple Pie is part of the RSS coding I think. If this is only happening with ChronoForms then turn off the 'Hint of the day' with the Parameters icon.

That did it! 😀 Thanks.
Can now get on with the business of learning how to get form data to show as an article.
To Quote Arnie "I'll be back"🙂

Hi word warrior,

If you want the form data to be all of the article content then you can use the submit_content form from the downloads area here.

If you want to include Form Data in an article then you could create a ChronoForm that showed data instead of form fields and include that with the ChronoForms Plugin/Mambot

Hi word warrior,

Looks like the Joomla administrator/cache folder isn't writable.

Out of curiosity I checked the administrator directory [777] the cache directory [755] and the only file within the cache directory (index.html) was set to [644] those permissions look about right to me. Am I missing something?

Andy

Hi word warrior,

Those chmod settings look OK to me. Is php mod_security on - that might mean that the permissions are still too tight?
