to make the upgrade to the new version should I delete the old, or do something else?

On the download page it says

Warning! Please clear your browser cache before using the new version!

If you have V3.1 RC3, RC4 or RC4.11 installed then DO NOT uninstall, just use this automatic first time/upgrade pack which will upgrade the versions mentioned earlier to RC5.

Users with earlier versions should uninstall first, pay attention to backup your forms before uninstallation or you will lose them!

So I guess that's the way to go.
