emails not sending after creating tables for saved data

coremelt 01 May, 2009
Hi there

I have two forms on our website to contact us made using chronoforms. They were both working fine, but when I created the tables to save the data we no longer recieve every email. It seems to be random, around 50 percent of emails get sent to us, but the others don't get sent, even though the saved data is there fine.

we are using chronoforms 2.3.9 and Joomla! 1.0.15 Stable.

We are not using captchas on the forms, only text boxes and popups. Anyone got ideas on what to check to try and solve this please let us know, its very annoying as we currently have to go check every record to make sure we don't miss any contact emails.

Hi coremelt,

There's nothing in ChronoForms that will discriminate between emails - it will send if it can. Hard to know what the problem is here - most likely that are going to a spam filter somewhere. Are you using a 'Special Fields' From Email?

Bob

PS Joomla 1.0 is getting very old now.

yes we are using the special fields "from" in order to be able to reply directly to emails from the form. we also use validation on the email. the emails which don't get sent to us are valid emails, we copy paste them from the form and it works just fine.

as for Joomla 1.0 being old, well it works just fine. Why should we spend a huge amount of time trying to change a large and working website to joomla 1.5 especially since not all the plugins we use are available in 1.5 native? The problem is joomla 1.5 has no really compelling reason to update, its just a nicer admin interface.

Hi coremelt,

if all form submissions are saved then nothing wrong with the data saving and the form passes the email step fine, you also say that resubmitting the data works fine so maybe the only clue is as what Bob said, some spam filter or a problem with your email server ? check your email server log and see if some email goes out or is abandoned for some reason ?

the idea behind J1.5 is that Chronoforms for J1.5 has too many improvements over the J1.0 version and the J1.5 codebase is really better!

Max
