Searchable Database

susanpenter 22 Apr, 2009
It was recommended to me to try either Fabrik or Chrono. I am having lots of problems with Fabrik although it should be able to fulfil my needs so I though I would try Chromo,

What I would like to create is a form that allows people to search a database and produce the results for a genealogy site.

I have created a basic form with fields such as: year, parish, forename, surname, father's name & mother's name

I can see that there is also provision to create a table and add columns (such as abode etc)

The next stages I would need would be for excel files or csv files to be uploaded into the table (there will be 1000 plus entries to begin with and more added later.

You can see an example of the type of thing I wish to create here: http://www.cornwall-opc-database.org/searchdb.php?dbname=baptisms

If you put the surname Penter into the form you will see the type of returns form it displays, with a link to further information from the table for each record.

I would really like to know whether this is all possible before I spend a long time trying to produce it.

Many thanks for reading.

Hi Susan,

ChronoConnectivity will be able to list DB table data and you can add a search box easily, many code examples are on the Connectivity forums, the version is alittle old now and needs some updates/fixes, some of them are there on the forums but we will have full fresh release soon so don't give up!

Max
