Please Help with me Multi Forms

am1rk 19 Apr, 2009
Hi, I've used Joomla for around 3 years now, but I am quite new to Chronoforms. So far it seems like a fantastic component. I have searched the Forum for most of yesterday and today and read (and re-read) various threads on Multi Forms and how to carry a values from one form to the next. I have come across a lot of different code and tried all of it. I am just not getting anywhere though. I have quite a simple form (collecting contact info) and I wish to display/carry 3 of the fields onto the second (and final form) when a user has submitted their first form.

I am using Joomla 1.0.12 Stable (I haven't seen the need for me to upgrade yet) and Chronoforms 2.3.9

I have virtually no knowledge of PHP, but I have seen examples of code in both HTML and PHP. Does anybody have an example of code (and where I need to place it) that I could just copy or adjust as required?

Is it just a case of inserting correct code or are there any specific options I need to select from within Chronoforms?

Thanks in advance

Hi Amir,

Most of the recent code here is for Joomla 1.5 :-( - I do suggest that you think abotu upgrading before long as Joomla stop supporting 1.0 in a couple of months.

Are you saving the results of the first form into the database?

Do you want the items you carry forward to be editable or are they now fixed data?

Hi Bob,

Thank you for your reply. I think I will have to upgrade soon. I am just aprehensive, as it has taken me a long time to get comfortable with Joomla and the thought of moving to 1.5 is a bit daunting, but I suppose it is necessary.

I want to save the results of the first form into the database, yes, but as I had put together a practice form I hadn't configured it save the results. I will get the results of my practice form to save as well then if that is an issue.

I am not wanting to edit the results once they are carried across to the final form, just to display them, as a summary for the user.

Thanks again in advance

Hi Amir,

Joomla 1.5 has been otu for more than a year now and upgrading isn't too bad at all. Unless you have any extensions that *only* work in Joomla 1.0 and there are a few of those still around.
