Display in IE

rtenny 16 Apr, 2009
I know we all dont want to read anymore about this sh*** IE and if I had something to say it would have disappear 5 years ago. But we all have to life with this. And all just because of a bunch of idiots in Redmond. Sorry, off topic but I hate them from the bottom of my heart.

Here my problem.
I made simple form just 3 field FF perfect but why does it not work in IE? I only drop 3 text field, nothing else.

Why is there a gap in IE?????
The I added a <br> infront of the input fields
http://stamegna.adunanza.com/index.php?option=com_chronocontact&Itemid=116
It gets worse when I add some longer text
http://stamegna.adunanza.com/index.php?option=com_chronocontact&Itemid=117

All this is just fine in FF, its ONLY IE. I had a look at the CSS, but its a bit confusing as I dont know with is for front end CSS and which of admin CSS, a bit more remarks in the CSS might help😀

Thanks for any help I can get. My form are rather long and I just dont want to re-write them all to use a table just because IE cannot handle it.

Hi rtenny,

I don't know which gap is causing you a problem. The form css is intedned to be used with short text and without the <br /> so your Test 1 is the 'correct' layout and looks OK except in IE6 where there are larger spaces. The styling for IE6 is in components/com_chroncontact/themes/default/css/style-ie6

PS I've just discovered IETester with DeBugBar which helps a lot in working with IE versions.

Does this mean then that the forms looks fine on your IE? On mine the forms are all over the place. How very strange. Even the first one. the gap between the first input element and the second is bigger then the gap between the second and the third input element.

Thanks for looking at it anyway. I will then just rewrite the form using tables that should surely work on all browsers

Hi rtenny,

No they aren't all over the place. Some spacing differences but that's all. This is what I see in IE6 using IE Tester for 115
